TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Officials say they believe careless smoking was to blame for a 4-alarm fire in Trenton that left residents displaced.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment building in the 500 block of Bellevue Avenue.
Flames were reported coming from the third floor of the three-story building.
The fire went to four alarms before crews were able to bring things under control around 6:00 p.m.
Officials say it appears that careless smoking led up to the fire but they are still investigating.
No injuries were reported but about more than one dozen people were left displaced.
The Red Cross is assisting those residents.
