OLD CITY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police have released surveillance video of a man they believe robbed three different groups of people at gunpoint in less than an hour.

All of the incidents happened between 9 and 10 p.m. Saturday in the Old City section.

One happened at 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of Front and Dock streets - a popular place for tourists.

Police said a man with a handgun approached a couple in their 50s and demanded their money. He got away with $65.

Less than an hour earlier, police believe the same guy struck twice in the 300 block of South 5th Street. He made off with $80 after holding up a group of four men.

People who live in the area said it's a family-friendly neighborhood, and they are not accustomed to this type of crime.

"There's always a lot of people out around here so I wouldn't expect there to be a bunch of robberies," said Lauren Simmons of South Philadelphia.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 20-years-old, 6'2" tall with a dark complexion, thin build and a clean, shaven face. He was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black baseball cap, jeans, black sneakers and armed with a handgun.

He was believed to have fled in a dark colored Infinity SUV/Crossover type vehicle, possibly a mid-2000's Infinity FX35, and appears to have a New Jersey license plate.

Police believe the suspect may live outside the city, but still warn folks to be cautious.

"Just be aware of your surroundings because this individual seems to approach people quickly, but possibly approaching couples, approaching people together in groups so he doesn't have a fear in that sense," said Lt. John Stanford of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847).
