Police say an armed 16-year-old is in custody after fleeing from officers and barricading himself inside a home in North Philadelphia.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say an armed 16-year-old is in custody after fleeing from officers and barricading himself inside a home in North Philadelphia.

It all started around 8:20 p.m. near 11th and Poplar streets when the teen suspect allegedly fired gunshots.

Officers responded to the scene and a foot pursuit ensued.

Authorities say the teen ran and barricaded himself inside a home in the 900 block of North 11th Street.

The barricade situation ended by 9:30 p.m.

Police took nine people into custody, including the teen suspect, who they say was identified by those inside the home as the suspected shooter.

A weapon was recovered at the scene but a shooting victim was not located.

No word on what charges will be filed.
