An arrest warrant has been issued in connection with a mysterious "Gone Girl" kidnapping case in California earlier this year.

On June 29, the FBI obtained a warrant to arrest Matthew Muller, 38, of Orangevale, California, for Denise Huskins' alleged kidnapping in Vallejo in March.

A sworn affidavit containing allegations against Muller was unsealed earlier today, the FBI said in a release.

In June, when Muller was arrested in connection with a home invasion robbery in Alamenda County, the FBI said, authorities found similarities to the "Gone Girl" kidnapping.

According to the FBI, Muller may have committed other similar crimes. The investigation is ongoing, the FBI said, and anyone with information about Muller is asked to contact law enforcement.

On March 23, Aaron Quinn called police to report that Huskins, his girlfriend, had been abducted from his Vallejo home, police said.

Two days later, she was found safe in Huntington Beach, police said. According to police, Quinn told investigators that Huskins' abductors made a $8,500 ransom demand.

On March 25, police in Vallejo said that they found "no evidence to support the claims" that Huskins was abducted from Quinn's home.

Huskins and Quinn had denied any involvement in a hoax through their attorneys.

In March, Quinn's attorney, Dan Russo, claimed the alleged kidnappers sent a six-page email to his office detailing their motive. Douglas Rappaport, Huskins' attorney, said in March he received a "15-page, single-spaced email" from the kidnappers apologizing for their actions.

Russo had also said that Quinn was tied up and drugged by at least two assailants the day his girlfriend was taken, which he said explains why Quinn was unable to call police until hours later.
