WILMINGTON, Del. -- Police say they found dangerous lizards along with a small child while serving a warrant in Delaware.

New Castle County police said that officers went to the Heritage Court Apartments on Friday looking for a suspect wanted on multiple warrants.

Inside, police say they discovered three people trying to destroy a "large amount" of suspected crack cocaine.

Investigators went on to say they found a three-year-old child inside the home, along with 16 monitor lizards and a boa constrictor.

Officers said they were told by experts from the Brandywine Zoo that the monitor lizards, which were up to six feet long, were deadly and extremely dangerous, especially around children.

The lizards are illegal to own and are considered an exotic species, police said.

Arrested were 25-year-old Jennifer Chadwick - the person wanted on the warrant - along with 32-year-old Antonio Graves and 28-year-old Jerimiah Feaster, all of the 5500 block of Heritage Court.

All three have been charged with various drug and firearm related offenses, as well as endangering the welfare of a child.

The child was turned over to a family member.

The lizards were taken to a reptile rescue in New Jersey.
