Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a man in Absecon, New Jersey.

ABSECON, N.J. -- Authorities are looking for a hit-and-run driver who they say struck and killed a pedestrian in southern New Jersey.

Atlantic County prosecutors say 26-year-old Kyle Marcy was struck around 4:10 a.m. Saturday in the area of Routes 30 and 9 in Absecon. They say the Galloway Township man had just got out of another vehicle shortly before he was struck by a dark-colored 2012 Honda Civic that stopped briefly before the driver left the scene.

Marcy was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

The accident remains under investigation by Absecon police and the prosecutor's office.
