EXETER TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A 10-month-old baby hospitalized in a coma after being violently shaken, and the mother's boyfriend is under arrest.

Cody Rigg, 20, of Exeter Township, was charged for the July 3rd incident at his home in the 4900 block of Quince Drive, WMFZ-TV reports.

Police say Rigg admitted to them that the baby would not stop crying, so he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and started to shake her.

The baby girl was rushed to Reading Hospital then flown to Hershey Medical Center.

Doctors said she suffered bleeding in the brain and large bruises on her face, neck and back. X-rays also revealed four rib fractures, which the doctors believe are old injuries.

Doctors also said it was not clear if the baby would survived.

Rigg was charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children. He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $500,000 bail.
