Officials say back-up batteries were the cause of an evacuation at the New Castle County Public Safety building after low levels of carbon monoxide were found.

MINQUADALE, Del. (WPVI) -- Officials say back-up batteries were the cause of an evacuation at the New Castle County Public Safety building after low levels of carbon monoxide were found.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 3601 North Dupont Highway in Minquadale, Delaware.

An investigation revealed the source was back-up batteries being stored in the basement.

They've since been removed, and employees have been allowed back into the building.

The 911 call center, located within the building, was operational throughout the day.

No injuries were reported.
