PLUMSTED, N.J. (WPVI) -- A woman is dead and her husband is hospitalized following a barricade situation across from two schools in Ocean County, New Jersey.

It was just after 10 a.m. Tuesday when Plumsted police received reports of a domestic incident at a home on the 100 block of Evergreen Road - across the street from the New Egypt Middle and High School buildings.

Upon their arrival officers found the body of 48-year-old Susan Haskoor in the driveway, who had apparently been stabbed to death.

Officers proceeded to the front door of the home where they found a note saying there were guns in the house and that the occupant would kill them.

Police were able to confirm the existence of six firearms in the home after speaking with the suspect's son.

The Ocean County Northern Regional SWAT Team, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Ocean County Sheriff's Department, and the New Jersey State Police were called in to help secure a perimeter around the home where the suspect was believed to be barricaded.

The air space over the scene was deemed restricted by the FAA at the request of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. a robot equipped with a camera was sent into the home and found the male occupant in the garage area of the home unresponsive.

The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Arthur Haskoor, was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center. His condition has not been released.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Authorities say the couple had been married for 20 years with two male children, ages 17 and 18.
