Boating accident on C and D Canal in Delaware

BEAR, Del. (WPVI) -- Several people are reported safe after a boating accident in Bear, Delaware.

Action News is told fire department rescue boats were dispatched at 12:20 p.m. Friday to the north side of the C and D Canal west of the Summit Bridge.

A 53-foot boat with six people aboard hit some rocks and began taking on water.

Everyone was able to get off the boat and onto land safely.

The situation was declared under control after 12:30 p.m.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is investigating the incident.
