CLEMENTON, N.J. (WPVI) --Police have arrested four people who they say were caught on surveillance stealing a bounce house and dunk tank from Clementon, New Jersey.
The suspects, 28-year-old Charles Miller II, 38-year-old David Boyle, 44-year-old Eric Evangelista and 35-year-old Michael Williams, were all taken into custody over the weekend.
Police also say that the stolen items were recovered.
The rentals were for a day-long festival and fundraiser for the Clementon Youth Athletic Association.
Councilwoman Christine Nucera, who is also the CYAA president, says it was from the Clementon Day Block Party on May 31st.
"I was just in shock. I thought it was a joke at first and then we saw the video. Why would somebody do that? Why would somebody come in the middle of night and take this stuff knowing that it was a benefit for the children in the community?" said Councilwoman Nucera.
The borough had rented the bounce house and CYAA rented the dunk tank from Y-By Rental in Woodbury.
Proceeds from dunking people like Police Chief Randal Freiling were going straight to CYAA and its 200 children.
Police say Sunday night June 1st sometime into Monday morning June 2nd, the thieves loaded up the bounce house and the dunk tank and took off.
Investigators say the suspects confessed to the crime.
