SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA -- Police say a 4-year-old was critically injured after he fell from a 2-story window in Southwest Philadelphia.

The incident happened just before 9:00 a.m. Saturday on the 5400 block of Malcolm Street.

"When he brought him out, his legs were limp," said Lena Duncan.

Duncan saw medics rush the child to a waiting ambulance. She says her children often play with the little boy.

The child was rushed by medics to Children's Hospital with head and facial injuries.

Investigators haven't released details on the parents' whereabouts or who was inside the house at the time of the incident.

Neighbors say there are several children who live in the home and that they are well-cared for.

"It's just a quiet humble family. They're always taking care of them, always walking with them, I just want to send my prayers out to their family," said Gwen Stratton.

Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit is handling the investigation, as is protocol when a child is seriously injured.
