Officials say charges are expected in the death of a Bensalem woman.

BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- A man has been formally charged in the death of his girlfriend in Bensalem, Bucks County.

29-year-old Andrew Messner has been charged with Criminal Homicide.

Police were called just after 10:00 a.m. Monday to the Berkley Trace Apartments on the 3800 block of Bensalem Boulevard for a suspicious death.

Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 25-year-old Dilara Ozen in a bathtub.

Officials say Ozen's mother found her and called police.

Authorities deemed the death suspicious and said foul play was apparent.

Neighbors describe Ozen as a lovely young woman who kept to herself.

"She was very quiet. She more or less came, went into her apartment, that's it. You wish you could've helped. It's horrible," neighbor Betty Mitchell said.

Other neighbors say her death comes on the heels of a tumultuous weekend involving the victim and Messner, described as Ozen's on-again off-again boyfriend.

"Friday night there were random screams, people yelling, just people screaming really loud, it was after 10:30 p.m. Then cars, screeching wheels back and forth," Jamie Barr said.

Messner, who was also inside the apartment at the time, was transported to police headquarters for questioning.

He was being held on an outstanding warrant from May 2015.

The bench warrant was issued after Messner failed to show up for a court hearing following his arrest for allegedly assaulting Ozen earlier this year.

Messner was arraigned via video by District Justice Joseph Falcone. He was remanded to Bucks County Prison with no bail.

Anyone with information on Ozen's death is asked to call Bensalem police.
