Brigantine officer charged in teen sex assault

BRIGANTINE, N.J. (WPVI) -- A Brigantine police officer is charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

44-year-year-old Officer Ralph M. Pereira was indicted Thursday on 10 counts in connection to an alleged incidents which happened in 2012 and 2013.

Investigators say Pereira provided the 16-year-old victim with alcohol before committing the alleged acts.

Pereira was first arrested back in May 2014.

He was later released on $100,000 bail.

No word yet on a trial date.
