Broken pontoon leads to rescue from seaplane in East River, passengers taken by boat to marina.

MANHATTAN (WPVI) -- The FDNY responded to a disabled seaplane in the East River after its pontoon apparently broke.

It happened around 5:35 p.m. near East 20th Street on Friday.

The plane took off from East Hampton Airport at around 2:35 p.m.

It then landed in the East River and broke its pontoon, causing it to become disabled.

The FDNY says 10 people were taken off the seaplane.

Bill Lawrence, who created the sitcoms "Scrubs" and "Cougar Town," tweeted that he was one of the passengers, but is doing fine.

He posted video of himself aboard the plane as it landed in the East River.
