Canine apprehends teen burglary suspects in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- Authorities say a police canine helped apprehend two teenage burglary suspects in New Castle, Delaware.

18-year-old Jared Robb and a 15-year-old teen, both of New Castle, are charged with burglary and other related offenses.

The alleged incident happened at 1:08 p.m. Tuesday on Crippen Drive in the Penn Acres section.

Police say a witness called 911 to report the burglary in progress.

The pair was still in the home when police arrived on the scene, including K-9 Officer First Class Tanyer and his partner Ace.

Officer Tanyer and Ace entered the home and located the 15-year-old suspect hiding in a utility cabinet in the basement. They later allegedly found Robb hiding in the attic.

Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident.

Robb is charged with burglary in the second degree, conspiracy in the second degree, theft greater than $1,500 and resisting arrest. He was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $7,500 secured bail and issued a no contact order.
