CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. (WPVI) -- A teacher from Cape May County, New Jersey has been charged with allegedly having sex with a student.

Joseph Towns, 34, of the 3900 block of Bayshore Road in North Cape May surrendered to police on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say Towns, who is an English teacher at Middle Township High School, had sex with the student between October, 2012 through October, 2013.

Towns is charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual contact, official misconduct, possession of child pornography, and obscenity of persons under 18.

Towns has posted $175,000 cash bond.
