BEAR, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police are investigating an accident in which a car was driven into a retention pond.

Police were called at 1:38 p.m. Wednesday to Red Lion Road and Route 13 in Bear for the report of a car in the pond.

They arrived to find the driver had managed to get out of the car and swim out of the pond on his own.

The 67-year-old man was evaluated by EMS at the scene and was not injured.

Police say he was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, traveling on Red Lion Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off of the roadway and ended up in the retention pond.
