Car lands on its side after crash in Holmesburg, driver injured

HOLMESBURG (WPVI) -- A man was injured after losing control while behind the wheel and crashing into several parked cars in Philadelphia's Holmesburg section.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Leon and Stanwood streets.

Police say the driver, a man in his 20s, was driving car that was reportedly stolen.

The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to land on its side.

He had to be freed from the wreckage while a passenger inside the car fled the scene.

The driver was taken to Aria-Torresdale with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating.
