The Centers for Disease Control is conducting an investigation into the surge of violence in Wilmington.

WILMINGTON, Del. -- The victim of a deadly shooting in Wilmington, Delaware this weekend was remembered by family and friends.

A small memorial now stands at the site where 32-year-old Jason Turner was shot and killed.

He was gunned down on Saturday morning on the 800 block of North Pine Street.

Police say Turner was shot by 15-year-old Daymere Wisher, even after cooperating with him during a robbery.

The CDC is in Wilmington looking into the rise in violence in the city.

City councilwoman Hanifa Shabazz introduced a resolution in December, inviting the CDC to study the problem.

"They're doing case studies just like that alleged 15-year-old, as to what his is background, what his is education, his life, what would put him in that mindset to take a gun and shoot somebody," Shabazz said.

Police have also charged two other teenagers in connection with the shooting.
