CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- They are the brave public servants who were honored by the Citizens Crime Commission.

Officers Edward Davies of the Philadelphia Police Department received a Valor Award from 6abc's Rick Williams who emceed the event.

Davies was shot in August after a car and foot pursuit with suspect Eric Torres.

He remains off the job and continues to recover.

"It means the world to me, it's a great feeling that people appreciate what you do," Davies said.

Philadelphia police officers John Pasquarello and John Callahan also received awards on Tuesday.

They were watching their sons play baseball at a field in the Northeast when 9-year-old TJ Ramos collapsed and began suffering a heart attack. The two sprang into action.

"We are thankful every day that we have T.J. with us. If it wasn't for Officer Callahan and Pasquarello, our life would've changed forever," T.J.'s father Carlos Ramos said.

The luncheon culminated with the Presidential Award given posthumously to Philadelphia Fire Battallion Chief Michael Goodwin who died while battling a fire in the city's Fabric Row.

The building collapsed trapping the 53-year-old.

His family received the award to standing applause.

"He understood the risks and we as family members understood the risks too. It's been year, but we are so much stronger because of all the love and support we got from this city," son Mike Goodwin Jr. said.
