A dramatic police confrontation in Texas ended with a city councilman tasered for allegedly resisting arrest.

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (WPVI) -- A dramatic police confrontation in Texas ended with a city councilman tasered for allegedly resisting arrest.

It happened in the same town where Chicago native Sandra Bland was arrested and later died over the summer.

Police maintain that what happened in this case is the result of the councilman resisting and ignoring repeated commands, but the councilman is questioning if the use of a stun gun was necessary.

The taser take-down is now raising questions.

"Put your hands behind your back! Ok, he's going to have to tase you. You're not doing like you're supposed to" the officers can be heard shouting in the video.

The entire incident was caught on police body-cam video. It began with 26-year-old City Councilman Jonathan Miller asking officers why three of his friends were being questioned in his front yard.

Miller can be heard telling officers he's not trying to be combative, while the friend lets them know he's a city council member.

The video then shows tensions quickly escalating before Miller is tasered, on his knees with his back to police.

"I'm telling you one more time, man. Go over there before you go to jail. Turn around," said the officer.

Miller replies, "I'm not saying nothing."

He later spoke to Houston station KHOU after he was charged and released from jail.

"It went from me asking questions to me being put face down in the ground. I'm curious to have the conversation with the officers," said Miller.

In a statement, police, insisting this was a clear case of resisting arrest.

The police chief also revealing that the female officer seen in this video was at the scene during a traffic stop and controversial arrest of Sandra Bland over the summer.

Authorities later found Bland dead, hanging in her jail cell.

Meanwhile, Councilman Miller was charged with interfering with duties and resisting arrest. The officers involved are still on the job pending the outcome of this ongoing investigation.
