BOOTHWYN, Pa. (WPVI) -- The search is on for an armed robber who assaulted a store clerk in Delaware County.

It happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Walgreens store in the 2600 block of Naamans Creek Road in Boothwyn.

Police say the suspect targeted that store and was armed with a handgun when he attacked a 17-year-old clerk inside.

"The suspect came into the store grabbed her by her hair, drug her down the aisle, and threw her into a shelf face first. She injured her face. He then continued to drag her into the back of the store where the managers were closing out for the night counting money," said Detective Christopher Jones, Upper Chichester Township Police Department.

Police released a partial video and frightening still images of the crime in progress.

Officers blacked the faces to protect the employees' identities.

There were no customers inside at the time, just the three employees closing for the night.

The 17-year-old clerk took the brunt of the attack.

"She sustained some injures to her head that required some stitches, but she should be okay physically," said Detective Jones.

Detectives are not sure how much money the criminal got away with, but tell Action News he emptied a safe and took all of the day's cash from the store.

After roughing up the employees, the gunman is seen running from the scene. He's covered pretty well, but detectives are hoping something about him stands out to the public.

"Hopefully by the build, by the clothing, way he looks, the clothing he wears, somebody will recognize him and report it to us anonymous if need be," said Detective Jones.

Investigators are working to track down the suspect.
