Clerk punched during pizza shop robbery in North Philadelphia

Police are searching for two armed men who attacked a clerk during a pizza shop robbery in North Philadelphia Monday night.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for two armed men who punched a clerk during a pizza shop robbery in North Philadelphia Monday night.

It happened at Little Caesars Pizza on the 1100 block of West Girard Avenue.

Surveillance from inside the restaurant shows the suspects walking in around 9:30 p.m.

One suspect grabbed a clerk who was mopping the floors and pulled him behind the counter, demanding money.

The second suspect forced another employee into the back room and demanded he open the safe.

When the employee told them he didn't know the safe code, they punched him, knocked him to the ground and kicked him.

The pair then fled on foot, running west on Girard Avenue.

Police describe the first suspect as a Black male, 20 years-old, 5'8"-5'10" tall with a medium to stocky build and dark brown complexion. He was wearing a dark blue hooded jacket, gray pants, black shoes and a checkered scarf covering his face.

The second suspect is described as a Black male, 20 years-old, 5'8"-5'10" tall with a stocky build, light brown complexion and long beard. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, tan pants, black shoes, and armed with a handgun.
