A crash in snowy conditions brought down power lines early Tuesday in Newtown Square, Pa.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (WPVI) -- A motorist was injured after crashing into a utility pole in snowy conditions in Newtown Square.

It happened before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Bryn Mawr Avenue.

Police tell Action News the crash brought down power lines, which landed on the car and sparked a fire.

Images from the Action Cam broadcast on Action News at 6:00 a.m. showed an extensive crash scene, with power lines lying across Bryn Mawr Avenue.

The driver was extricated from the wrecked vehicle and taken to an area hospital.

There was no immediate word on that person's condition.

Fire crews remained on the scene after the crash.

Bryn Mawr Avenue was closed between West Chester Pike and Brookside Road as crews worked to clear the scene.
