VIDEO: Crimefighters: $6K reward in fatal New Year's Day hit-and-run
It's been two years since a father was fatally struck while crossing the street and a $6,000 reward is being offered to find the hit-and-run driver.

WYNNEFIELD HEIGHTS (WPVI) -- The start of the New Year isn't easy for the family of Patrick Coyle Sr.

It's been two years since the 50-year-old was struck and killed while trying to cross City Avenue near Presidential Boulevard in Philadelphia's Wynnefield Heights section.

It happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday January 1, 2013. The driver fled the scene.

"Why didn't he at least stop?" said Patrick Coyle Jr, son.

Coyle Sr.'s son described him as the life of the party.

"Funny guy - just easy going, just helped out, loved helping people - just a really good sense of humor, tried to make other people happy," said Coyle Jr.

Witnesses of the accident were only able to give police a vague description of the vehicle, saying it was either a gold or silver four door sedan.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $6,000 reward, a portion of which was posted by the family and a portion posted by AAA Mid-Atlantic.

That reward will go to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
