Crime Fighters: Woman seeks answers in son's shooting death, $20,000 reward offered

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The simple task of walking a dog turned deadly.

And now the victim's mother is seeking the public's assistance to help police find her son's killer.

"He was loving, happy-go-lucky, loved his family. He was just trying to make it, trying to live," said Carmen Chadrick.

She says her son, Hakim Chadrick Zaboor, had ambitious goals.

"He was doing construction work, and he was trying to start a clothing line," said Chadrick.

She says she's still reeling from the events of Dec. 21, 2015.

"From my understanding he was walking his dog. Taking his dog out for a walk. That's all I know," said Chadrick.

Just before 7:30 p.m., police were called to the 300 block of Harton Street in West Philadelphia.

That's where they found the 22-year-old lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"There's a $20,000 reward. Basically just hoping that someone will bring someone to say something. To talk," said Chadrick.

The City of Philadelphia is offering up to $20,000 as a reward for anyone that comes forward with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
