It's been just over six years since a young man was gunned down outside a nightclub in Camden.

CAMDEN, N.J. -- It's been just over six years since a young man was gunned down outside a nightclub and now a reward is being offered to find his killer.

On Saturday February 2, 2009, Luis Garcia was talking with his mother Maryann Bonilla at her home in Camden.

"He had intentions to give his girlfriend an engagement ring," said Bonilla.

Sometime later in the evening, that girlfriend called Garcia.

"His girlfriend called him and said to meet her but I didn't know exactly where," said Bonilla.

Just after 2:00 a.m. that Sunday, police were called to a scene for shots fired.

"The bar at 32nd and River Road was letting out and there was a mass amount of people out there when shots rang out and Luis Garcia got shot," said Detective Peter Longo, Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Garcia died from his wounds.

A couple days after the shooting, an arrest was made but detectives say that suspect didn't kill Garcia.

"That person was charged with a weapons offense. We were able to determine that he did fire a gun that night, but he was not the one who shot and killed Luis Garcia," said Detective Longo.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Garcia's death.

Still emotional, Bonilla read a plea she had prepared in advance.

"I'm here once again today to ask the community of Camden for their support. I beg you to please come forward if you remember anything or have any information from that night," she said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS (8477). All calls will remain anonymous.
