NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Residents in one New Castle, Delaware neighborhood are dealing with a smelly problem, trash lining the sidewalks for the nearly 3 weeks.

It's going on in the Sparrow run neighborhood, which is mostly comprised of rental properties and a few privately owned homes.

Action news spoke with Harold Stith, who claims that the trash at 20 homes has not been picked up in weeks.

He says the rental properties recently changed owners and trash companies.

The county has fined the rental company but say they cant do much more than that.

Stith explained "it's unsanitary, it's a safety issue and so forth because of the temperatures like this for 2 and 1/2 going on 3 weeks-- its just bad"

Action news reached out to that rental company but our calls have not been returned.
