It all started Thursday with a traffic stop on State Road 82, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Deputies stopped a 2015 Mercedes that had been reported stolen.
They say the driver, Kenzo Roberts, 20, was using a fake ID, had a handgun and had three fraudulent credit cards.
Deputies put Roberts in the back of a squad car and once inside, they say he began to try to remove his own fingerprints by chewing his fingertips and rubbing them against the cage.
A fingerprint scanner, however, identified Roberts and showed he had two felony warrants in Broward County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Roberts is now facing several charges, including 3 counts of possession of a counterfeit credit card, grand theft auto, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of similitude of a driver's license, driving while license suspended and false identification given to law enforcement.
Deputies also say he was in the U.S. illegally.
