Driver crashes into tollbooth on Pennsylvania Turnpike

A car struck a toolbooth on the Pa. Turnpike in Bucks County.

BRISTOL, Pa. (WPVI) -- A driver is injured after crashing into a tollbooth on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bristol, Bucks County.

The accident happened around 5:15 p.m. Monday at the Delaware River Bridge interchange.

Police say a vehicle trying to enter the turnpike from New Jersey struck the tollbooth in lane 1.

The driver was rescued by emergency crews and transported to St Mary's Hospital in an unknown condition.

State Police tell Action News the driver suffered head injuries.

The accident caused a major backup on the lanes coming into Pennsylvania.

Police are investigating.
