An early morning one-car crash on a Montgomery County road has left the driver in critical condition.

LOWER PROVIDENCE TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- An early morning one-car crash on a Montgomery County road has left the driver in critical condition.

The accident occurred around 4:40 a.m. Sunday at Ridge Pike near Church Road in Lower Providence Township.

Police say the car went out of control and hit a utility pole.

It took about 20 minutes for firefighters to free the trapped driver.

The victim was flown to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Police are trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control.
