A home invasion is under investigation after an elderly man was robbed of cash and a cell phone in Philadelphia's Somerton section.

SOMERTON (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police are looking for at least three men who robbed an 83-year-old man in his Somerton home.

The victim tells Action News the suspects kicked in his door then barged into his bedroom with a gun and metal pipe.

"I heard a guy come into the room, and he said, 'Don't move. Stay where you are and don't move,'" said the victim. "One with a gun, and one with a pipe."

The victim does not want his face shown or his name used.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday in the 10000 block of Verree Road.

Two men with weapons entered the victim's bedroom and demanded cash. Police think a third person was involved as well.

"It was so fast," said the victim. "It wasn't scary because it was so fast. They took a ring off me."

"They started to ransack his house," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. "They took $800 cash, some medicine, the 83 year old's ring, and they took his cell phone."

The victim said he frequents Parx Casino, and on Sunday he won several hundred dollars there.

He tells Action News he thinks he may have been followed home after his recent win.

Luckily he wasn't hurt during the home invasion. He says the incident won't keep him from going about his life.

"What are you going to do, die because of something happening to you?" he said.

"You've got to live your life."

Action News reached out to Parx Casino but we haven't heard back.

Police say the victim was able to give them only a vague description of the suspects.
