VIDEO: Hunt for 'Cinderella' bandit in Collingdale
Police say the man was part of a group that staged a home invasion and robbery. He dropped a stolen sneaker making his getaway.

COLLINGDALE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police in Delaware County are looking for the four men who forced their way into a home and terrorized a family at gunpoint.

It happened in the 100 block of Lafayette Avenue in Collingdale just after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

While the suspects remain at large, police do have one clue: one of the suspects left a stolen sneaker behind.

Police hope the shoe will help them find the suspects.

The suspects got into the home through a back door in the alley and confronted the homeowner in the basement, where he had been sleeping.

"Three had handguns. One had what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun and they demanded to know where the money was. He said there was nothing here to his knowledge," said Chief Robert Adams of the Collingdale Police.

The group held the husband and wife along with two adult sons at gunpoint while they ransacked the basement and a few bedrooms before leaving with about $300 in cash along with watches, cell phones and some newly purchased high end sneakers.

The bandits then took off along the train tracks, and where one of the suspects dropped one of the sneakers.

Police are now testing that shoe for DNA evidence that they hope will lead them to the group.

No one in the family was hurt.

Investigators also have high hopes that there will be video suspects.

"We are finding a lot of people have cameras on their house," said Chief Adams. "It's amazing how many people have cameras."

Because of that dropped shoe, police have dubbed the suspects the "Cinderella Bandits."
