NJ teen's organs donated after fatal shooting
Bill Ritter has the story of a New Jersey teenager killed by a stray bullet, whose organs were donated so that others could live.

JERSEY CITY -- Six people are alive, thanks to a boy in New Jersey who was apparently an innocent victim of gun violence last week.

The 16 year old boy was killed by a stray bullet. Now his family is planning his funeral and donating his organs so that others can live.

The six people now have his organs, including a 13-year old girl. And in that way, Ron Witherspoon Jr. lives on.

"He was a good kid. Definitely in my eyesight he was a good kid and he had a lot of friends," said his mother Dawn Williams.

His large family is grieving but also angry because they say the group of kids he was with a few doors away from his home probably included the intended victim.

Ron's mom says she heard the gun shots sprayed by cars driving by, and she wants to find the gunman.

"Somebody need to come up, come forward and give some information, tell him who shoot my son," she said.

One of Ron's big sisters says she keeps hearing his voice and thinks that, anytime now, he'll come walking back into the house.

"I be sitting out here and I just be waiting for him to come around the corner. It's just sad," said Naynay Williams.

Police have no suspects yet in the killing.

Ron will be buried next Tuesday. His organs were donated through the New Jersey Sharing Network.
