A fire has forced five people out of their homes in West Philadelphia.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A fire has forced five people out of their homes in West Philadelphia.

The blaze started around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on the 5500 block of Walnut Street.

Firefighters were met with heavy flames showing on the first floor.

It took them 20 minutes to get the fire under control.

Two women and a child in one unit, and a woman and her teenage son in another unit are now homeless.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The Red Cross is assisting the victims.

There is no immediate word on the cause of the blaze.
