Former Montgomery County teacher sentenced for sex with student

LOWER MORELAND TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A former teacher for Lower Moreland High School in Montgomery County has been sentenced for having sex with a student.

Erica Ginnetti, 35, was sentenced Friday following a guilty plea to having the inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old boy.

Ginnetti will spend the first 30 days of her sentence in prison, followed by 60 days of house arrest.

The sentence will also include 20 months parole and three years of probation.

She is also required to do 100 hours of community service.

Prosecutors say they are satisfied with the sentence.

At the time of her arrest in January, 2014, police said the investigation began after a tip about incriminating evidence on the victim's cell phone.

Police say the evidence, including photos, video and text messages, led them to Ginnetti, who admitted to having a relationship with the student starting the previous spring.

Ginnetti was an advanced math teacher at Lower Moreland High School.
