A gas main ruptured before 2:00 a.m. Route 611 (Easton Road) was expected to be closed in both directions for hours.

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (WPVI) -- A gas leak has shut down Route 611 (Easton Road) in Willow Grove, Montgomery County between Fitzwatertown and Maryland Roads.

PECO tells Action News a utility crew struck a 4-inch natural gas main at 12:18 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Route 611.

PECO crews arrived about 20 minutes later and began repair work.

No evacuations were ordered, and service has not been interrupted to any customers.

PECO said it expects permanent repairs to be completed sometime between 11:00 a.m. and noon Thursday.

Motorists were being asked to seek alternate routes.
