BRIDESBURG (WPVI) -- Authorities have shut down a street in the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia after firefighters found potentially explosive material inside a home.
Crews were first called to the 4700 block of Richmond Street at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday for a reported house fire.
Firefighters put the fire, which was located on the first floor, under control within 15 minutes.
But in the process, they discovered a chest containing what appeared to be a hand grenade and a mortar.
Police and the Philadelphia Fire Marshal were called to the scene and shut down the block.
There have been no reports of injuries.
The status of the devices - whether they are 'live' or not - was still being determined.
