OCEAN CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- So many people come to Ocean City because they say it's a family atmosphere and great for kids.

We found plenty of kids Monday, showing off their patriotism and exploring the beach, including one focused crew searching for wildlife.

Kids with buckets lined the rocks on the beach, celebrating their freedom to explore the sea.

We asked Vincenzo Massi of Aston, Pennsylvania, what the sea creatures felt like.

"Spiders crawling on you," said Vincenzo, adding it was creepy.

Best buddies Nyla and Kevin, ages 4 and 5, we're having a ball on the beach - not so much in the water.

"Me and Kevin went in the water, and he thought it was real cold!" said Nyla Harris of Reading, Pennsylvania.

"I did a cartwheel, I surfed on my boogie board once," said Kevin McFarland of Reading, Pennsylvania.

While Sunday's weather wasn't as nice as Saturday, people made the most of their holiday weekend.

"Yes, they're going all the way out, finding sea shells and clams," said Chantelle Harris of Reading, Pennsylvania. "There's a lot of clams today. A lot of them."

We came across a patriotic squad on the boardwalk who was decked out in stars and stripes, all waiting for one thing!

"The Fireworks!" said Kate Porter of Doylestown, adding she enjoyed them so much because of all the colors.

But not everyone is looking forward to the sky show at night. Just ask 4-year-old Jade Samuel.

After Friday's storms, people were ready to really enjoy their Fourth of July weekend, and spent Saturday soaking up the sun at the Jersey Shore.

"I don't like them when they come," said Jade Samuel of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. When we asked why, Jade replied, "Because I'm scared of them."

"She is not a fan of the fireworks," said Leia Thompson of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. "But as long as I hold her hand, she's good."
