A longtime Ridley High School physics teacher and track and field coach is accused of having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.

MEDIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- A longtime Ridley High School physics teacher and track and field coach is accused of having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.

Gregory A. Stanczuk, 52, of the 1100 block of Hampshire Place in West Chester, is charged with institutional sexual assault.

Prosecutors claim the physics teacher and head girls track and field coach used his position of authority to exploit the victim.

The victim says Stanczuk was her teacher freshman year and coached her during all four years at Ridley.

The now former student says the two became close senior year after she broke up with her boyfriend, and their relationship eventually became sexual.

District Attorney Jack Whelan said, "As a teacher and coach, Gregory Stanczuk flagrantly used his position of trust and authority to exploit the victim, manipulating her emotionally for his own sexual gratification."
