Man ambushed, shot while sitting in pickup truck in East Mount Airy
EAST MOUNT AIRY -- Police say a 29-year-old man was ambushed and shot while sitting in a pickup truck in Philadelphia's East Mount Airy neighborhood.
The incident happened before 1 a.m. Friday on the 6300 block of Magnolia Street.
The victim was in the truck when a gunman walked up to the driver's side and opened fire, police say.
Eight shots were fired, and three of those bullets struck the victim in the side.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, and is listed in serious, but stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene after the shooting.
Police say evidence points towards drugs as the motive.
A stray bullet also went through a screen door of a house, where a 67-year-old woman was asleep on the second floor. Fortunately, she was not hurt.
Police continue to investigate.
