Man charged after tires slashed on 13 vehicles in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man is facing charges in connection with allegedly slashing the tires of 13 vehicles in a South Philadelphia neighborhood.

Police have identified the suspect as 54-year-old Christopher Nelson of the 900 block of South 5th Street.

Nelson is charged with 13 counts of criminal mischief and possessing an instrument of crime.

The incident happened around 1:25 a.m. April 23 on the 1700 block of Christian Street.

One person is in custody after allegedly slashing the tires of thirteen vehicles in a South Philadelphia neighborhood.

Police responded to a call for an unknown black male in a white tank top and jeans slashing tires on the block.

Upon arrival, officers observed Nelson, who they say fit the description, sitting on the ground next to a Honda Civic with a knife, a cell phone and a pair of earbuds located on the ground next to him.

The officers then discovered 13 vehicles on the block with slashed tires.

Nelson was taken into custody without incident.
