NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- New Castle County Police say the man who allegedly sped away after hitting a motorcyclist with his pickup truck on Monday is now facing DUI charges... for the fourth time.

53-year-old Mitchell Angle, of Dasher Avenue in Bear, is charged with DUI and other related offenses.

It was approximately 2:00 p.m. yesterday when police responded to the area of Christiana Road and Airport Road after motorcycle collided with a pickup truck.

The motorcyclist, an adult male, was conscious and alert upon their arrival.

Police say Angle was behind the wheel of the green 1994 Ford pickup truck, which took off after the accident.

The pickup was quickly spotted by an officer in the area of Churchman's Road and Commons Boulevard. The officer activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the pickup continued to flee.

Police say the pickup made a left onto Airport Road and then a left on Meadow Road. However, Angle was unable to negotiate a curve and careened off the roadway and into a group of trees. The pickup rolled and came to rest on its passenger side, trapping Angle inside.

Angle was extricated from the vehicle, and then both he and the motorcyclist were transported to Christiana Care Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Angle has since been charged with his 4th offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, vehicular assault in the second degree, disregarding a police officer signal, leaving the scene of a collision involving injury, failure to have required insurance, operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, driving a vehicle at an unreasonable speed, (two counts) failure to signal, failure to yield right of way and fictitious or cancelled registration.

The motorcyclist was treated and released.
