Man critical after Newport hit-and-run

NEWPORT, Del. (WPVI) -- Police in Delaware are looking for a hit-and-run driver who critically injured a man in Newport.

The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday along the 1100 block of West Newport Pike.

Police say a 49-year-old man was struck as he was standing in the westbound lanes.

The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Medics rushed the victim to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

His name has not been released.

Troopers continue to investigate this incident.
