Man killed, woman injured in apparent Kensington hammer attack

KENSINGTON -- Philadelphia police are investigating an apparent hammer attack in Kensington that left a man dead and a woman injured.

The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. in the 2000 block of East Cambria Street.

Police say a 60-year-old man attacked a woman and the woman retaliated.

When police arrived, they found the man lying on the ground and a 26-year-old woman with a fractured skull.

Both were taken to area hospitals. The man was pronounced dead and the woman is listed in stable condition.

Police believe the incident was domestic related.
