The victim managed to drive a short distance to the Dunkin' Donuts store at 10th and Girard seeking help.

Police say a man was shot and killed in North Philadelphia early Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 5:00 a.m. Thursday on the 1000 block of Harper Street.

According to police, the victim and a passenger were sitting inside a Plymouth minivan when a gunman walked up to the vehicle and opened fire, hitting the driver several times and blowing out the back window.

The victim, a man in his 20s, managed to drive a short distance to the Dunkin' Donuts store at 10th and Girard Streets to get help.

Officers took the victim to Hahnemann University hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger inside the vehicle was not hurt and was reportedly talking to the police.

Investigators were checking surveillance cameras for more clues.

The gunman remains at large.
