Man shot in the chest in North Philadelphia

A man was hospitalized after being shot in the chest in North Philadelphia.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. Friday in the 1800 block of North Van Pelt Street.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to Hahnemann Hospital in critical condition.

Initial reports are that the suspect fled in a black car.

No word on a motive but police say 11 bags of marijuana were found near the scene.

Police are investigating.
