Police say an unidentified man was shot several times outside a grocery store in West Philadelphia Friday night.

The shooting occurred around 9:00 p.m. at 56th and Osage Avenue.

He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition.

Investigators say two males were fighting when one of the males was knocked to the ground and appeared to have lost the fight.

The other male began to walk away and the 31-year-old victim followed him and appeared to want to fight again.

At that time the other male, the suspect, turned and pulled out a gun from his waistband and shot the victim.

He then ran westbound towards 57th Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'8" tall and medium build. He was wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans.
