A skeleton mask wearing robber shot a victim, police say.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say a 53-year-old man was shot twice in the leg by a suspect wearing a skeleton mask in North Philadelphia early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened around 3:00 a.m. Thursday on the 1000 block of Tioga Street.

Police say the victim was sitting in his truck when another man, wearing a skeleton mask, came up and pointed a shotgun at him.

After robbing the victim, the suspect ran into a nearby home.

The victim apparently then chased the gunman to that home.

That's when the suspect came out shooting.

The victim was hit twice in the leg.

Police say after the man was shot he jumped into his Ford Explorer and drove more than 2 miles to the 3300 block of Old York Road.

They say along the way, he struck a fire hydrant, knocking it into the street.

He then drove up on the curb and passed out behind the wheel, bleeding heavily.

Police rushed him to the Temple University Hospital where he remains in critical, but stable condition.

The gunman is still on the loose.
